Our Story
Sharing the Good News is our goal.
Rick and Donna Fernandez are the founders and directors of Ambassadors For Christ Outreach 2 Cor. 5:20, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our goal is to serve the community through motivational evangelism training, outreach consultation, and substance-abuse referrals, so people can find hope.
We served on staff with Teen Challenge of Florida for 35 years, as Directors for most of that time. Today, we continue to travel and reach communities throughout Florida and beyond.
Our Purpose and Vision
To reach our communities and help people find God's purpose and plan for their lives. People with needs often feel alone and uncared for. Through outreach, they learn there is a community that cares for them, a place they fit in and can grow in their faith.
As a result, those receiving help become the helpers.
A short history
- 1995
- Pioneered the Davie Women's Home, taking a small residential program in a borrowed duplex to a beautiful debt-free home in west Broward. Hundreds of lives have been transformed, and whole families restored.
- 2001
- Began leading our own community outreaches and established the Kick Drugs Out of Our Community outreach in the Town of Davie, an annual drug-prevention and awareness event bringing a message of hope in a family-friendly environment.
- Today
- Each year we travel throughout Florida and beyond, bringing a challenging message to each audience, be it in a church or in the streets.
The Founders
Rick, an evangelist and pastoral counselor with a heart to reach those affected by substance abuse and the core issues behind a downward spiral. He can speak to one person or one thousand, and he never meets a stranger.
Donna, a Certified Addiction Professional who works behind the scenes, using her knowledge, administrative skills and life experience to advance a growing ministry. A teacher at heart, she enjoys sharing biblical insight for practical living.
Why 5:20?
The name points to 2 Corinthians 5:20, the verse the ministry is built on.
